Immanuel. God is with us. That’s probably my favorite aspect of the Christmas story to dwell on. When I first accepted Christ in 1988, I thought that Christianity was a religion to adhere to. A way of life and rules to follow. Later, I realized that God knows my name. It suddenly became very personal.
Not only does He know our names, but He is with us.
Here.
Now.
He is with us when everything is going great. With us when life goes horribly wrong. With us in all the in betweens of potty training, math lessons, and loads of laundry.
Is laundry mundane when the holy Creator of the universe is right there beside the washing machine with you? Are math lessons exasperating when Jesus Christ sits next to you to help you explain long division?
His presence with us makes all things holy.
How is it significant to you that He is Immanuel?
